Brief Description: With COVID-19 spreading rapidly, it leaves many Americans, specifically those who are immune-compromised, at a vulnerable state in terms of fighting this virus. At Medical Home Network in Chicago, they are using population health management strategies and artificial intelligence in order to reach these vulnerable patients during this pandemic.
Future Implications: The use of Artificial Intelligence during the COVID-19 pandemic can help health care providers prioritize care for vulnerable patients.
Overall Impact: This trend creates a new scenario where the most vulnerable patients will be prioritized during this pandemic. There has been many controversy and concerns about prioritization among COVID-19 patients due to there being a shortage in medical supplies, such as respiratory machines. It's believed that if there becomes a severe shortage in these items that younger individuals will be prioritized over the elderly even though elderly patients are more vulnerable. With the use of A.I and other public health strategies, the chances of vulnerable patients facing worse health outcomes will begin to be managed so that these disparities can condense.
